SOCHI, September 11 The organizers of the jazz festival in Sochi are ready to hold an event lasting not three days, as it was, but a week, there is an assumption that the Sochi administration will also agree to this, said Russian saxophonist, artistic director of the Sochi Jazz Festival Igor Butman.
The jazz music festival opened in Sochi on Monday. Until September 17, concerts with jazz performers will be held on the stages of the Winter Theatre, Festivalny Concert Hall, as well as in the South Mol. The festival program includes master classes at the Sochi College of Arts and the Youth House, as well as a jazz parade.
«It is very important that many fans of our music come to our concerts. We are happy, I am sure that the city administration also has a desire to hold this festival for a week. Well, firstly, a lot of guys come, an excellent program for students. I think that we will try to gather some more artists who will come to perform in Sochi at this time on a competitive basis,” Butman said.
According to him, it is not yet known which site will be chosen to host the anniversary festival in 2024. He added that the organizers do not exclude the possibility of holding the festival in the mountains of Krasnaya Polyana.
«We are considering Krasnaya Polyana… I think we can consider, we need to complete this (festival), and then we will see if we have the strength for this, some interest, we need to make sure that made sense,» Butman explained.
Deputy Mayor of Sochi Elena Kanyuk, in turn, spoke about the need for a jazz festival, noting that the musical event is to the liking of both tourists and city residents, so it has become a tradition. According to her, the resort’s mayor’s office asked Butman to hold the festival for a week so that the maximum number of people could be involved in the cultural life of the city.
Speaking about the dynamics of sales, the organizers of the festival said that all tickets for the opening were sold out, there are still places available on September 15 and 16, but there are no seats available for the gala concert, which will take place in the Festivalny concert hall with the participation of Leonid Agutin There are almost no places left.
The Sochi Jazz Festival has been taking place in Sochi since 2010. Jazz performers from all over the world come to the music event. During the festival, more than 80 thousand spectators attended the concerts.
