CHITA, September 18 The Trans-Baikal Territory signed agreements for 76 billion rubles of investment during the Eastern Economic Forum, the press service of the regional government reported.
«The forum summed up the results of ten years of work of the ministry… on the development of the Far East and the Arctic. More than 7 thousand people from 62 countries and territories took part in it…. On the sidelines of the forum, 373 agreements were signed for a total amount of 3 trillion 818 billion rubles. The largest projects were concluded by the Amur region — 173 billion rubles, the Trans-Baikal Territory — 76 billion rubles, the Khabarovsk Territory — 72 billion rubles and Primorye — 56 billion rubles,» the press service quoted the Russian Presidential Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District Yuri Trutnev as saying.
Governor of the Trans-Baikal Territory Alexander Osipov noted that the President of the Russian Federation named the region among the twenty in the country in terms of attracted investments. According to the head of Transbaikalia, the effect will be cumulative, and investments will help further development of the region. He clarified that five years ago the region was labor-surplus and it was difficult for residents to find work. There is currently a shortage of qualified personnel. That is why education is one of the main focuses during the WEF.
“The second is the development of the social sphere. We signed a number of agreements and held negotiations with federal authorities to continue to build facilities — both large and medium-sized — sports, culture, healthcare, education. We are now directing most of the work to rural, remote settlements, to regional centers,» Osipov added.
The region also pays great attention to housing construction. A number of agreements on investment projects were signed for the development of social facilities and housing. The total amount for these purposes, according to the government, was about 60 billion rubles.
«When systemic work is underway, the moment naturally comes when it is clear that the changes are no longer one-time, not fragmentary, but that in fact there is a transformation of the territories. We are now entering such a period,» the governor emphasized.
