KAZAN, September 20 The Ministry of Digital Development does not plan to make changes to the legislation that regulates the use of electronic warfare systems against drones, a discussion is currently underway, the head of the ministry Maksut Shadayev told reporters in on the sidelines of Kazan Digital Week.
Earlier on Wednesday, Izvestia reported, citing materials for a meeting of the State Commission on Radio Frequencies, that businesses, citizens and most government agencies may be prohibited from using electronic warfare systems against drones. Vedomosti, citing sources, reported that systems for suppressing UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles) will be legally able to be used not only by law enforcement agencies — this issue is on the agenda of the SCRF meeting.
«There are no such plans yet (to make changes to the legislation — ed.), while we are discussing in what part the law needs to be amended and where the line is drawn… Because if we allow everyone to use electronic warfare systems, then We will be a complete mess with frequencies, with the stability of mobile communications,” Shadayev said.
«We are now discussing with business in the industry what problems there are and how we can solve them. There is no solution yet. Consultations are ongoing, discussions are not in place,» the minister added.
