ST. PETERSBURG, September 23 A criminal case has been opened into the murder of a woman in an apartment in the Primorsky district of St. Petersburg, the suspect in this case, her husband, is now in the hospital, so how he tried to take his own life, the press service of the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee for St. Petersburg reports in its Telegram channel.
“The investigative department for the Primorsky district of the Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for St. Petersburg opened a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Part 1 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (murder),” the press service reports.
According to the investigation, a man born in 1979, on the evening of September 22, 2023, while in an apartment in one of the houses on Suzdal Highway, during a conflict with his wife, born in 1983, inflicted multiple blows to the latter with a knife all over her body. The woman died from her injuries at the scene. After which, the man tried to take his own life.
According to a source in the city's law enforcement agencies, emergency services were informed about the incident by a child who found his mother bleeding in the kitchen. “The woman asked to call the police and an ambulance; her husband was in the bathroom at that moment,” the agency’s interlocutor added. According to him, the family had two children; none of the adults or children were registered. According to preliminary information, jealousy could be the reason for the murder.
According to the Investigative Committee, the suspect is now in the hospital where he is receiving medical care.
