ROME, September 24 Italian film star Sophia Loren, who turned 89 on Wednesday, was taken to hospital after a fall at her home in Geneva, reported Sophia Loren Restaurant in Bari, which the film star was supposed to open on September 26.

"Sophia Loren had an accident, she fell this morning at her home in Geneva. The actress was immediately taken to the hospital for examination and was found to have several hip fractures. She underwent surgery, which was successful,” the message says.
Along with the actress are her sons Edoardo and Carlo.
Next Tuesday in Bari a solemn ceremony was to take place awarding Lauren the title of honorary citizen of this southern Italian city. On the same day, the actress planned to open a fourth restaurant, which bears her name. Previously, Sophia Loren Restaurant was opened in Milan, Florence and Rome Fiumicino International Airport.
