The Perm portal 59.ru reported on another case of early release from a colony of a person convicted of a serious crime who became a volunteer at the Northern Military District. The publication writes that at the end of last year, Dmitry Zelensky, a resident of Gubakha, who in the summer of 2018 killed and dismembered his mistress, and then passed parts of her body through a meat grinder, was released early from prison.
The victim of the man, a former serviceman who took part in the second Chechen campaign, was 27-year-old Tatyana Melekhina, who met him in the military hospital where he was being treated. The media wrote that at that time the man was married, but later his wife left, and his new lover moved to live with him from Perm. However, the cohabitation was short-lived; soon the girl announced to her groom her intention to return to Perm, and then disappeared. After her disappearance, Zelensky said that he personally took the bride home by car and left, but later confessed to the murder. The man said that he committed the crime by accident during a quarrel — allegedly the girl started a scandal because of his friend, whom she did not like, and he only wanted to calm her down, but did not calculate his strength and strangled her. He also admitted that he was trying to create an alibi for himself — he drove a car to Perm, and talked about the method of destroying evidence: “I processed it in a meat grinder, collected the bones in three bags and threw them into the river.” The victim’s relatives subsequently stated that at the trial the killer behaved defiantly and told the father that he “raised such a daughter.” The friend, who allegedly did not like the girl and caused the quarrel, insisted that he had never seen her at all and did not know why the killer mentioned him.
In 2019, the court sentenced Zelensky to 11 years in prison, since then he has been in colony No. 37 near Chusov. However, the mother of the convict admitted to journalists that in November 2022, contact with her son was lost, and then he called from an unfamiliar number and said that he was “at the Northern Military District near Lugansk.” According to 59.ru, Zelensky returned from the battle zone in April 2023, “two months later he received a pardon.” According to the mother, now the son lives with his aunt in the city of Anthracite in the LPR.
According to the woman, for now her son “is getting his teeth treated there, and then plans to get a job as a builder in Anapa.” He does not plan to return to his native Gubakha, since “his sister asked him to do so,” for whom “what his brother did is a terrible shame.” The convict’s mother also reported that her ex-daughter-in-law refuses to bring her granddaughter to her and changed her and the child’s surname.
“The mother believes that her son deservedly received a pardon because he is sorry,” writes 59.ru.
