MOSCOW, September 27 The share of the dollar in international payments through the SWIFT interbank system in August amounted to 48.03%, updating its historical maximum for the entire period of publication of such statistics , follows from the system data that was analyzed.
Compared to the record values of July, this figure increased by another 1.57 percentage points.
The Chinese yuan is also at record high levels: the share of international settlements in this currency at the end of August amounted to 3.47% (this is 0.41 percentage points more than in July).
At the same time, the share of the euro renewed its record low values: according to the results of the last summer month, it lost another 1.22 percentage points, amounting to 23.2%.
The use of the euro has declined primarily due to loss of popularity outside the eurozone: payments in it in the rest of the world fell from 36.44% in August 2022 to only 12.7% in August this year.< br />
