The head of Russian Railways announced the construction deadlines for most of the planned high-speed lines

MOSCOW, October 2 General Director of Russian Railways Oleg Belozerov expects the construction of most of the planned high-speed railways (HSR) in Russia by 2043. He said this in an interview.
The head of Russian Railways on August 17, 2023, at the opening of traffic on MCD-3, asked Russian President Vladimir Putin to support the construction of the Moscow-St. Petersburg high-speed railway. The head of state supported the construction of this pilot highway, and also outlined a number of other directions: from Moscow to Kazan and the Ural regions, to Adler and even to Minsk. The head of state suggested that we think about including Lugansk and Donetsk in this system.

“I am sure that the next twenty years will be a time of high speeds, primarily in the passenger segment. In 20 years it will be 2043, I would like to see most of the listed high-speed lines built,” Belozerov said.

Earlier, he said that the Moscow-Petersburg high-speed railway should appear before 2030. Belozerov suggested that other similar roads to the Urals and to the South will be completed by 2030. “Moreover, there is design documentation for the Moscow-Kazan high-speed railway for all stages of construction. For Moscow-Adler, we will need to make an assessment and also start moving,” he noted.
High-speed is considered a specialized electrified double-track railway line for operating trains at speeds from 200 to 400 kilometers per hour. Now in Russia there are no such roads.
