MOSCOW, Oct 10 Israeli military used ammunition containing white phosphorus in the Gaza Strip, the Palestinian Foreign Ministry reported on the social network X.
“Israeli occupation forces used white phosphorus prohibited by international conventions against Palestinians in the al-Karama area in the Gaza Strip,” the publication says.
The combustion temperature of white phosphorus is 1200-1300 degrees. The substance instantly burns through clothing and causes severe burns. Combustion is accompanied by the release of extremely toxic smoke. Fire extinguishers are powerless against white phosphorus; the substance either burns out on its own or goes out in the absence of oxygen. Phosphorus shells are prohibited by the Convention on Prohibitions or Restrictions on the Use of Certain Conventional Weapons.
