MAKHACHKALA, Oct. 10The court arrested two detectives from the police department in the Sovetsky district of Makhachkala as part of a criminal case regarding the death of a detainee after torture, said the head of the press service of the Supreme Court of Dagestan Zarema Mamaeva.
On the night of January 21 of this year, 35-year-old Kurban Dalgatov died in Makhachkala, who had been taken to the Sovetsky district police department a few hours earlier. The police believed that he helped a citizen escape from the scene, who that same evening, during the conflict, fired several times from a weapon at another man. In a statement, the press service of the Republic's Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that during the investigation, the citizen's health worsened and he was taken to a medical facility, where doctors pronounced him dead. Later it was established that Dalgatov died, most likely due to his injuries.
«The Sovetsky District Court of Makhachkala elected two detectives of the police department for the Sovetsky district of Makhachkala, suspected of committing a crime under Part 5 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation («Exceeding official powers with the use of torture, resulting in the death of a person through negligence»), a preventive measure in the form of detention until October 5, 2023. They are involved in a criminal case regarding the death of Kurban Dalgatov,” Mamaeva said.
Previously, four employees of the police department in the Sovetsky district of Makhachkala were detained and taken into custody, whom the investigation considers involved in the death of Dalgatov.
