According to the Telegram channel, the 62-year-old official was caught on the hook in September. The scammers wrote to him on Telegram on behalf of his manager, who warned the subordinate that he was about to receive a very important call from the “curator of the Ministry of Finance.”
The “curator” who called said that scammers had allegedly settled in the Ministry of Finance and that he needed to be careful keep track of the accounts.
An hour later, the official received a call from “FSB employee” “Viktor Sukhorukov” and stated that a loan had been issued for him.
Next, “Central Bank employees” contacted the civil servant and offered transfer savings to their accounts, take out loans and pawn a car. The official carried out all the orders, despite the fact that some banks tried to reason with him.
As soon as the scammers received about 12 million, they set about the wife of the divorce victim, an employee of the Ministry of Finance. She had doubts, but her husband told her that “the guys from the FSB” could be trusted. The woman suspected something was wrong after she took out a third loan.
The couple filed a complaint with the police, having lost a total of 14.5 million rubles.
