ISTANBUL, October 11 Attempts to abolish Russian culture in the West have not been successful, a reverse trend has emerged, said Deputy Head of Rossotrudnichestvo Pavel Shevtsov.
According to him, the trend of cancel culture at the beginning of a special military operation was fashionable to discuss in Europe and North America.
“But we then saw that it was not possible to cancel Russian culture, not because it was not possible to close, say, the channels of penetration of culture, but because it was not possible to cancel the interest of people in countries in Russia and Russian culture,” Shevtsov said on the sidelines of the International Russian language week in Istanbul.
“»Now we see a trend of changing the position of people in Western Europe and North America in relation to Russian culture. Of course, a trend has just emerged… everyone saw the futility of the sanctions policy. More and more people are coming to our centers abroad and they say: “Let’s communicate more actively.” And those who actively and initially studied the Russian language, went to our events, still go and interact with the Russian Federation,” he added.
Shevtsov noted that he has a positive view of the development of relations between Russians and foreigners.
““No matter how paradoxical it may be, we see interest abroad in studying the Russian language, in establishing relationships in the academic environment, and a fairly serious expansion of contacts in the field of science,” Shevtsov noted.
