NEW DELHI, Oct 14 Premier Indian Minister Narendra Modi confirmed his further interest in deepening Russian-Indian relations, said Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko.
A delegation of the Russian parliament led by Matvienko is on a visit to India from October 12 to 14 to participate in the parliamentary forum (P20) of the G20 countries.
«He (Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi — ed.) also emphasized the activity of developing our cooperation in the energy sector, in the agricultural sector, in the technical field, in a number of other areas — and confirmed the interest in further deepening Russian-Indian relations,” she said during a meeting with Speaker of the People’s House of the Indian Parliament Om Birla.
Matvienko also asked to convey that Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is waiting for his Indian colleague to visit the Russian Federation. She also confirmed her invitation to Birla to Moscow; the same invitation, according to her, was requested by State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin.
«Next year Russia will chair the BRICS. We will also hold a parliamentary (forum — ed.) BRICS. We invite you to take part in advance, we will also try to organize it at a high substantive organizational level.
