MOSCOW, Oct. 16 Vladimir Putin, via video conferencing, opened traffic to new facilities in several regions.
Bridge over the Kalmius River in Mariupol
The facility is located in the area of the metallurgical plant «Azovstal». The two-lane bridge, 141 meters long and 22 meters wide, provides transport, including tram connections, between the Central and Left Bank districts of Mariupol.
Specialists installed five supports weighing 32 tons each. Rails were also laid on the span for tram traffic in both directions. In addition, workers installed supports for hanging the overhead contact network. They also painted and lit the structures, installed barrier and railing fencing.
It is specified that the bridge has become a key element of the city’s road network.
Bridge over the Svir River
A new bridge across the Svir River in the Leningrad Region was built three years ahead of the contract deadline. It includes 11 supports, as well as approaches on the left and right banks. The total length of the facility is 2.5 thousand meters. Work, including concreting, was carried out all year round.
Construction of the bridge began at the end of 2019 on behalf of the president. For Podporozhyeand the region as a whole, the structure is of strategic importance: since its foundation at the beginning of the last century, the settlement was divided into two parts by a navigable river. The only crossing from one bank to the other was the dam of the Verkhne-Svirskaya hydroelectric power station. It operates in reverse mode and is not designed for heavy traffic.
The new bridge across the Svir will completely switch traffic flows from the Verkhne-Svirskaya hydroelectric power station dam, establish a permanent connection between the banks, and also give a new impetus to the development of the economy of the eastern part of the region.
Repairs on the P-217 and P-242 highways have been completed
The President also started traffic on the repaired sections of the P-217 Caucasus highway. Its length is 274 kilometers — from the Chechen Republic to the border of Russia and Azerbaijan. R-217 is a transit route to the countries of Transcaucasia and the main transport artery of the regions of the North Caucasus Federal District. About 35 thousand cars pass here every day.
In October, specialists completed a major overhaul of two sections of the highway in Dagestan with a total length of 8.3 kilometers. This year, three more four-lane sections were put into operation on the R-217: near Khasavyurt (from the 735th to the 738th kilometer, from the 742nd to the 747th) and near Uchkent (from the 776th to the 786th kilometer ). Their total length is 18 kilometers.
Currently, work continues on several more sections of the road. Thus, by the end of 2025, the roadway with a total length of 78 kilometers will be overhauled.
In turn, in the Sverdlovsk region, the repair of 40 kilometers of the R-242 highway was completed ahead of schedule. We are talking about a section of the M-12 Vostok highway leading from Moscow to Yekaterinburg via Kazan. The road is being built on behalf of the President.
Work on the section from the 187th to the 232nd kilometer on the Perm-Ekaterinburg highway was carried out in two stages. In 2022, 20.3 kilometers were put into operation, and now another 19.7 kilometers have been added to them. Specialists installed an axial parapet fence separating oncoming traffic flows. They also connected the federal highway with the villages of Zobnina, Kiselevka and the village of Klyuchevaya. Repairs were carried out around the clock, seven days a week.
In addition, new junctions on the M-4 Don highway were opened in the Gelendzhik area. This will relieve congestion in the city, speed up traffic on tourist routes, and also improve the environmental situation. According to the Governor of the Krasnodar Territory, Veniamin Kondratyev, new sections of the road will improve the quality of the resort. He noted that the nine-kilometer-long complex of interchanges had been operating in test mode since May.
