UEFA punished Serbian clubs with partial closure of stands

MOSCOW, 16 Oct. The UEFA disciplinary body punished the Serbian “Crvena” Zvezda» and «Bachku-Topolu» by partially closing the stands at the teams' upcoming home matches in the Champions League and Europa League, respectively, as reported on the organization's official website.
These sanctions were imposed on teams for the discriminatory behavior of their fans in recent matches in European competition. “Crvena Zvezda” played a draw with the Swiss “Young Boys” (2:2) in Belgrade on October 4, and “Bačka Topola” also won at home with the Greek “Olympiacos” (2:2).
In the home match of Red Star in the Champions League against the German Leipzig on November 7, a section of the stadium that includes at least 10 thousand spectators must be closed. The Belgrade team was also fined 22 thousand euros for blocking passages in the arena.

Bačka Topola will serve his sentence on October 26 in a game with the German Freiburg, the club must close the sector of the home arena with a capacity of at least a thousand spectators, and also pay a fine of 10 thousand euros.

Also, the Slovenian “Olympia” was punished with a partial closure of the home stands for one match following the results of the meeting with the Slovak “Slovan” in the Conference League on October 5 (0:1). At the match against Faroese Klaksvik on November 9, a section with a capacity of at least a thousand spectators will be closed. «Olympia» was fined 30 thousand euros.
