PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY, October 17 Classes in two schools operating in the villages of Klyuchi and Kozyrevsk in the Ust-Kamchatka region were canceled due to ashfall from Klyuchevskoy and Bezymyanny volcanoes, the district administration reported.
““Due to ashfall from the volcanoes, classes in schools in the villages of Klyuchi and Kozyrevsk have been canceled. The population is advised not to leave the buildings unless absolutely necessary,” the agency’s interlocutor said.
According to the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations for the Kamchatka Territory, minor ash fall was recorded in the village of Klyuchi.
«Information was received that a fall of volcanic ash was recorded in the village of Klyuchi. According to the Kamchatka branch of the geophysical service of the Russian Academy of Sciences, on the morning of October 17, an ash emission was recorded from the Bezymyanny volcano to a height of up to 5000 meters, with the height of the giant itself being 2882 meters,» the department said.
In the fire and rescue department of the KSKU «DPC» in the village of Klyuchi, a point for issuing protective masks has been organized.
The Klyuchevskoy and Bezymyanny volcanoes are part of the Klyuchevskaya group of volcanoes, located in the Ust-Kamchatka region.
