
MOSCOW, October 19 Gas supplies to China via the Power of Siberia have already increased by 46.6% this year, Gazprom is ready to further increase them across all routes, said the head of the Russian company Alexey Miller.
“This year, the growth in gas supplies via the Power of Siberia compared to the same period last year has already amounted to 46.6%. Gazprom is ready to further increase supplies and reliably provide Chinese partners with natural gas along agreed routes,” Miller was quoted as saying. in the company's Telegram channel.
«Power of Siberia» is a gas pipeline from Russia to China with a length of about 3 thousand kilometers. The first deliveries through it began at the end of 2019 from the Chayandinskoye field in Yakutia, and three years later gas began to be transported from the Kovyktinskoye field in the Irkutsk region.
Last year, 15.4 billion cubic meters were pumped through the Power of Siberia; by the end of this year, the figure is expected to be 22 billion, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak previously reported. And the Power of Siberia's full capacity — 38 billion cubic meters per year — is expected to reach its full capacity in 2025–2027.
In addition, at the beginning of last year a long-term agreement for the purchase and sale of natural gas along the “Far Eastern” route was also signed . And according to it, after the gas pipeline reaches full capacity, the volume of pipeline gas supplies from Russia to China will increase by 10 billion cubic meters and in total will reach 48 billion cubic meters per year.
According to Gazprom’s plans, the development of the “Chinese vector” is also connected with the “western” route, which involves the construction of the Soyuz Vostok main gas pipeline, which will pass through Mongolia and become a continuation of the Power of Siberia 2 gas pipeline with a capacity of up to 50 billion cubic meters per year.
