The International Competition «Young Ballet of the World» opened in Sochi

SOCHI, Oct. 16< /strong> The IX International Competition of the Soviet and Russian choreographer Yuri Grigorovich “Young Ballet of the World” was solemnly opened for the ninth time on the stage of the Winter Theater in Sochi, with artists from seven countries, including Russia, taking part in it, the correspondent reports.
At the ceremony they showed a production of the Krasnodar Ballet Theater by Yuri Grigorovich, based on the novel “Romeo and Juliet”. The first day is dedicated to the gala concert, and from October 17 to 22, spectators will be able to see the works of the contestants performing their numbers at the Winter Theater.
According to the General Director of the International Federation of Ballet Competitions Sergei Usanov, participants from 75 countries showed up for the forum, but only 50 had to be selected, dividing them into junior (up to 19 years old) and senior groups (up to 28 years old).

The ballet on the stage of the Winter Palace in Sochi will be shown by artists from Great Britain, Japan, South Korea, the republics of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Russia.

Admission to the performances of the contestants at the Winter Theater will be free; students who want to watch the ballet can also use the “Pushkin Card”.
The competition “Young Ballet of the World — 2023” is dedicated to the 250th anniversary of the Moscow Ballet State Academy of Choreography. The competition was first held in 2006; its program and format were developed by People's Artist of the USSR, choreographer Yuri Grigorovich. The main goal of the competition is to search for young talents and preserve the traditions of folk stage dance.
