MOSCOW, Oct. 19 American long-range missiles supplied to the Ukrainian Armed Forces ATACMS will not be able to destroy Russian tanks, writes David Ax in an article for Forbes.

“There are many things that ATACMS cannot do. Among them is the destruction of the most protected combat vehicles. The reason is simple: the warhead of the missile contains about a thousand grenade-shaped submunitions, but in the absence of a very successful hit, not a single submunition has sufficient power to cause serious damage to the tank,” the material says.
The journalist also noted that Ukraine was not supplied with new American missiles, but ones close to the expiration of their “expiration date.”
The United States recently transferred ATACMS operational-tactical missiles to Ukraine, said National Security Council spokeswoman Adrian Watson. Deliveries of missiles with a reduced range of 165 kilometers were not previously announced.
