MOSCOW, October 20 Golden Ball winner football player Karim Benzema, through his lawyer, said that he did not know what the Muslim Brotherhood organization was (the movement is banned in the Russian Federation as terrorist).
Benzema previously posted on the social network X in support of the residents of Gaza, after which French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin publicly accused the French football player of having ties to the Muslim Brotherhood organization. Later, member of the French National Assembly Valérie Boyer called for Benzema to be deprived of French citizenship and the Ballon d'Or if the footballer's ties to a terrorist organization are confirmed.
““It is my children who suffer from the fact that their father is accused of terrorism,” said Benzema, whose words are quoted by lawyer Hugh Vigier through the publication France Info. Vigier adds that the football player did not know what the Muslim Brotherhood organization was.
“We will prosecute in court those who made the most significant accusations,” the lawyer added.
