UFA, October 21 A worker disposing of shells in a former military unit in Udmurtia was dismantling a shell for scrap metal and died when it detonated, reported the Russian Regional Investigation Department.
The incident occurred in the village of Pugachevo in the Malopurginsky district, where the arsenal warehouse of the former military unit is located.
«According to the inspection, on October 21, a 57-year-old village resident, performing work on the disposal of ammunition, delivered shells home with the goal of turning them into scrap metal. When trying to disassemble the ammunition, a detonation occurred, as a result of which the man died,» they said regional investigative committee.
Investigators from the Investigative Committee went to the scene, the department added.
