MOSCOW, October 21 Afghanistan, Ukraine and Israel may become leaders in terms of volumes of assistance received from the United States from 2001 to 2023, if Washington allocates support packages in the volume to Kiev and Tel Aviv $61.3 billion and $14.3 billion respectively, calculated.
The White House said earlier this week that US President Joe Biden is asking Congress for $61.3 billion in aid for Ukraine and $14.3 billion for Israel. Prior to this, he made a televised address to the nation, in which he called on Congress to give him the opportunity to continue uninterrupted arms supplies to Ukraine. Biden sent an emergency budget request to the Capitol for aid to Ukraine, Israel and other “critical” American allies.
Thus, the total amount of US assistance from 2001 to 2023 for Ukraine will be about 91.7 billion dollars, and for Israel — 77.4 billion dollars. This will make Ukraine the second country in the world in terms of aid from America after Afghanistan.
According to calculations based on data from the US State Department, since 2001, the absolute leader among the largest recipients of American funding is Afghanistan, which as of September 30, 2023 received $111.7 billion from the United States. Second place is occupied by Iraq with $64.4 billion, third by Israel with $63.1 billion, fourth by Egypt with $33.6 billion, and fifth by Ukraine with $30.4 billion. The top 10 also includes Jordan ($23.5 billion), Pakistan and Ethiopia ($17.5 billion each), Kenya ($13.3 billion) and Colombia ($12.2 billion).
At the same time, over the past two years, Kyiv has become the main recipient of American funding, receiving $24.6 billion from October 1, 2021 to September 30, 2023. During this time, Israel received $3.3 billion, Afghanistan — 2.7 billion, Iraq — 824.5 million, and Egypt — $353 million.
