The current four-door Kia K5 with a fastback body debuted in 2019; it ousted the Optima model from the global market (previously, the K5 index was used mainly in Korea and China). And now the time has come for restyling: the Koreans will be the first to receive the modernized sedan; local dealers have already opened pre-orders.
The Kia K5 got new and even more elaborate headlights — the optics had additional sections, and they were integrated into the bumper. The pattern of the diode running lights has also been rethought: although Kia continues to compare it to a heartbeat, now it looks more like a flash of lightning. The taillights have also been replaced — they are now “fanged”, and there are no more “strokes” on the plate connecting them.

In addition, the model received different bumpers, plus the design of the wheels was changed (from 16 to 19 inches), and two new shades were added to the body color palette. At the same time, a special version of the Black Fit is shown: this sedan has an extended black decor and original wheels (18- or 19-inch).
It is not yet known whether the new body kit has affected the dimensions of the model. The length of the pre-reform four-door Kia K5 (in Korean specification) is 4905 mm, width – 1860 mm, height – 1445 mm, wheelbase – 2850 mm.

In the cabin there is a curved display, that is, a virtual instrument panel and a touchscreen for the multimedia system are placed under one glass (in the pre-reform sedan, the instruments are recessed). Each display is 12.3 inches diagonal, software is updated over the air. The air deflectors in front of the front passenger are now hidden in a single plate, a new climate control unit has also been installed, and a wireless charging area has appeared at the base of the central tunnel. Another new feature is the fingerprint authentication system. Kia also reported improved sound insulation. The features of the Black Fit version are black upholstery and a black suede ceiling.

The Kia K5's suspension is said to have been tweaked to «provide enhanced ride comfort by better absorbing road vibrations and impacts while maintaining a nimble driving experience.» But the sedan’s engines are the same: in Korea, the model is offered with a 2.0 naturally aspirated petrol engine (160 hp) and a 1.6 T-GDI turbo-four (180 hp), where you can also buy a K5 with a 2.0 LPI gas engine (146 hp). s.) and a hybrid HEV (without the possibility of recharging from the mains) with an installation based on a 2.0 engine (152 hp).
