A number of countries voted against the UN General Assembly resolution calling for a peaceful resolution of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, RT reports.

Earlier, the UN General Assembly adopted a draft resolution on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, proposed by a number of Arab countries and calling for an immediate truce. More than 40 states took part in the preparation of the document. 120 countries voted in support of the document, 14 were against, 45 abstained.

Reportedly, the list of countries that voted against the resolution included Israel, the USA, Austria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Paraguay, Guatemala, Fiji, Tonga, the Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Nauru, Papua New Guinea.

The adopted resolution condemns violence against civilians in Palestine and Israel and calls for an immediate, reliable, sustainable humanitarian truce and a subsequent cessation of hostilities. The resolution also calls for the “immediate, unconditional release of civilians illegally held captive.”

The document requires each of the parties to the conflict to respect humanitarian law and ensure the rapid, constant and unhindered delivery of necessary goods and services to Gaza, as well as access for UN staff. The resolution also calls for the lifting of Tel Aviv's demand for Gazans and UN staff to move to the south of the strip.

In addition, the document voiced the need to urgently create a mechanism to ensure the protection of Palestinian civilians on the basis of international law and UN resolutions.
