MOSCOW, November 4. The list of goods for parallel import, published by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation in August, came into force: Panasonic and Duracell batteries, Canon, Fujifilm cameras, Sony, as well as various eyewear brands, in particular Ray-Ban, Hugo and Calvin Klein.
As explained in the Ministry of Industry and Trade, there are clear criteria for including and excluding a particular brand from the list. If a company left the Russian market, stopped supplies, closed its production in Russia, such brands are included in it. If foreign partners fulfill contractual obligations in good faith, the products are presented in sufficient quantities on the shelf and supplied to Russian enterprises, the products are excluded from the list.
At the same time, parallel import does not mean the legalization of counterfeit goods; the measure involves the import of original goods, but through alternative supply channels, the ministry emphasized.
Parallel imports were legalized by the government last spring to meet demand for in-demand foreign goods.
