ST. PETERSBURG, November 6. Russian art critic, one of the leading experts in the field of Italian art of the 15th-17th centuries, Arkady Ippolitov, has died, State Hermitage photographer Yuri Molodkovets reported on his Telegram channel.
“Arkady Ippolitov has died,” he wrote.
Arkady Ippolitov (born in 1958 in Leningrad) — Soviet and Russian art critic, exhibition curator, writer. Graduated from the Faculty of History of Leningrad University, Department of Art History. Area of scientific interests: Italian art of the 15th-17th centuries, mannerism, ancient and Christian iconography, foreign art of the 20th century, history of world cinema. In 1978 he began working at the Hermitage Library, where he worked for almost ten years. In 1987 he moved to the department of Western European art, and was later appointed curator of Italian engravings. In the 2000s he taught art history at the European University in St. Petersburg. Since 1993 — curator of exhibitions of classical and contemporary art in Russia and abroad.
