A court in St. Petersburg sentenced 17-year-old Yegor Balazeikin to six years in a correctional colony in the case of attempting to set fire to military registration and enlistment offices.

The 1st Western District Military Court in St. Petersburg sentenced 17-year-old Yegor Balazeikin to six years in a correctional colony in the case of attempting to set fire to military registration and enlistment offices, reports a Bamaga correspondent.

The prosecutor requested the same term for Balazeikin today . The teenager was found guilty of attempted terrorist attack (part 3 of article 30, part 1 of article 205 of the Criminal Code). According to investigators, he twice tried to set fire to military registration and enlistment offices in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region in February 2023, protesting against mobilization. Molotov cocktails did not catch fire.

As Rotunda wrote, during the debate, prosecutor Mikhailov said that Balazeikin wanted to prevent conscription.

“What should people feel? Any average citizen, upon learning that the military registration and enlistment office building has burned down, will experience a feeling of fear. He will think that internal enemies are saboteurs. Terrorism is an action that frightens the population and takes place. His words that he wanted to save people from conscription do not stand up to criticism,” said the prosecutor.

The state prosecutor in his speech also mentioned Uncle Balazeikin, who volunteered for the front and died. “He betrayed his uncle. “No more and no less,” added Mikhailov.

The teenager himself said that he did not agree with the accusation: “Yes, he threw bottles. I don’t agree with the goals and motives [that he wanted to influence the decisions of the authorities]. I didn’t make any demands.” Sota writes that Balazeikin was diagnosed with autoimmune hepatitis and the second stage of liver fibrosis.
