The Federal Law on the Russian People was proposed to be received by State Duma deputy Sultan Khamzaev.
In a conversation with RIA Novosti, he explained that there are quite a lot of nationalities in the Russian Federation, but the Russian people are one, and they include each of the national groups.
“We we use the phrase “multinational people of the Russian Federation”. I would say: the Russian people of the Russian Federation,” he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
The deputy also recalled that in the USSR the phrase “Soviet people” was used, and now the adoption of the wording “Russian people” is ripe.
“The Russian people today are the Slavs, they are the multinational people of Dagestan, Tatarstan, Chechnya, Bashkiria, Udmurtia, Yakutia,” the deputy said, noting that even government officials often confuse these concepts.
< p>According to him, the new law will not belittle the importance of national languages, their importance and survival, because each national language is “inscribed in its own republican constitution.” At the same time, he noted that all nations living in the Russian Federation are people of the Russian world.
