MOSCOW, November 23. President Vladimir Putin congratulated the Russian national team on their victory in the Open International Astronomical Olympiad, a telegram published on the Kremlin website.
«I am sincerely glad that the Russian team once again became a triumphant of these prestigious competitions, confidently winning six out of six possible medals of the highest standard. In a fair and intense fight, you demonstrated deep, thorough knowledge, excellent preparation and team cohesion. Convincingly confirmed the continuity of the best traditions of national education,” the congratulation says.
The head of state also expressed gratitude to the parents, teachers and mentors of the winners, and wished them new achievements both in their studies and in life.
On Tuesday Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced that Dmitry Timofeev from Moscow became the absolute winner of the II Open International Astronomical Olympiad, and Egor Potapov, Kirill Roshchin, Dmitry Sankovsky, Svyatoslav Suglobov and Konstantin Telelyukhin also took the first place on the podium.
