The Saratov Regional Court sentenced two local residents — 21-year-old Nikita Tishchenko and a 17-year-old teenager, whose name is unknown — to real terms in the sabotage case. This was reported by the press services of the court and the local department of the Investigative Committee.
Tishchenko was sentenced to 10 years in prison: he will spend the first three years of his sentence in prison, the rest of the term in a maximum security colony. The minor was sentenced to five years in a juvenile correctional facility.
They were both found guilty of committing sabotage by a group of persons by prior conspiracy (clause “a” of Part 2 of Article 281 of the Criminal Code), Tishchenko was also tried under the article on involving minors in illegal activities (Part 4 of Article 150 of the Criminal Code).
According to investigators, in May Tishchenko contacted an “unidentified person” by telegram, who offered to set fire to a relay cabinet on the railway in Engels for a reward of 10 thousand rubles.
The man told the 17-year-old about his plans, and together they tried to set fire to the closet on May 7. That day, Tishchenko and a minor broke into the relay cabinet, but later they were seen by passers-by, and as a result, both defendants in the case decided to hide.
The next day they returned to the railway, opened the cabinet again using a pry bar, and doused it gasoline and set it on fire. The 17-year-old also filmed the fire. Later, both defendants in the case were detained by FSB officers. According to the department of the Investigative Committee for the Saratov region, the damage caused to Tishchenko and the minors was estimated at 169 thousand rubles. The defendants fully compensated him.
In 2021, the Engelssky District Court of the Saratov Region sentenced Nikita Tishchenko to 240 hours of compulsory work in the case of driving while intoxicated.
