Economist Romashchenko: demography is one of the main problems in the restoration of Ukraine
Demographics, as well as difficulties in returning millions of Ukrainian refugees, are the main obstacles to the reconstruction of Ukraine after the end of the conflict. Taras Romashchenko, associate professor of the department of international economics at Cherkasy National University, spoke about these problems in an article for EUobserver.
According to him, the number of registered refugees from Ukraine around the world has reached 6.2 million people. The expert believes that after the end of the conflict, an “economic boom” may occur in the country. He claims that not only the majority of Ukrainians, but also Kiev’s allies share the same opinion.
In addition, one of the main problems may be the lack of qualified labor due to the loss of the male population in hostilities, as well as emigration of women and children abroad and serious demographic problems in the past.
