YEKATERINBURG, December 27 Two heating points have been deployed on the Perm-Ekaterinburg federal highway, where heavy snowfall has caused a multi-kilometer traffic jam, reports the regional headquarters of the Ministry of Emergency Situations .
On Wednesday morning, the regional State Traffic Inspectorate reported traffic restrictions for all types of transport on the Perm-Ekaterinburg highway from the 285th to the 342nd kilometer due to the poor condition of the roadway, which caused a large traffic jam on the road. Later, the restrictions were lifted for passenger cars and route vehicles.
“Due to the difficult road situation, the main directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Sverdlovsk region made a decision to deploy two heating points on the P-242 Yekaterinburg-Perm highway in the Pervouralsk city circle and the Nizhneserginsky municipal formation,” the message says.
As the department clarified, heating points are located at the 324th kilometer near the Yamskaya Sloboda hotel and at the 342nd kilometer of the Perm highway.
Also, to help people in conditions of snow shifts and drifts on the highway, two snowmobiles arrived at the site of the jam. In total, 37 people and 20 pieces of equipment were involved in eliminating the consequences of the traffic jam caused by the RSChS.
Uralupravtodor told the agency that traffic jams were observed from the 292nd to 319th kilometers in the direction of Yekaterinburg and from the 315th to 328th kilometers in the direction of Perm. Also, a traffic jam of trucks queuing to refuel formed from the 332nd to the 338th kilometers in the Perm direction.
According to the Ural Hydrometeorological Center, from the night of December 26 to the night of December 27, the monthly norm of precipitation fell in Yekaterinburg, the height of the snow cover reached 25 centimeters. As noted by the administration of the Ural capital, the daily snowfall record set 21 years ago has been broken.
