ST. PETERSBURG, December 31 In St. Petersburg, a concert on Palace Square was canceled as a sign of support for residents of the Belgorod region, reported city governor Alexander Beglov on the Telegram channel.

"As a sign of support for the residents of the Belgorod region, we decided to abandon the planned night concert on Palace Square. In half a day, I received dozens of messages from residents with such a request and I am sure that all of St. Petersburg will support this decision,” he wrote.
The head of the city clarified that all children’s events will be held during the holidays, emphasizing that no one will take the holiday away from children.
Beglov also stated that he offered the governor of the Belgorod region comprehensive assistance, including in the restoration of destroyed facilities.
The day before, Ukrainian troops attacked the center of Belgorod. According to the Ministry of Defense, the Ukrainian Armed Forces used Vilkha missiles with a cassette part and the Czech Vampire MLRS. Air defense systems intercepted most of the shells, but several ammunition and cluster units hit the city. It is noted that with a direct hit from these missiles, the consequences would have been much more severe.
