Governor of the Belgorod region Vyacheslav Gladkov said that the authorities plan to evacuate about 600 residents of the regional capital due to unexploded ordnance.
According to Gladkov, one of the unexploded ordnance was found today on Krasnoarmeyskaya Street. Because of this, the operational headquarters decided to “evacuate 323 individual houses within a radius of 500 meters” — this, according to the governor, is about 600 people.
As the head of the region writes, government officials are now visiting houses and inviting residents to go to temporary accommodation centers. Gladkov claims that the abandoned houses will be guarded by police officers, municipal guards and self-defense.
In addition, Belgorod authorities spoke about the discovery of two more unexploded ordnance in the Ulitka microdistrict. According to the mayor of the city, Valentin Demidov, one of them has already been neutralized by explosives experts.
This morning the Ministry of Defense reported on 12 missiles shot down over the Belgorod region by air defense systems. Later, the authorities also reported continued shelling of the region by Ukraine — in particular, an attack using kamikaze drones on local villages.
