MOSCOW, January 4Explosive items were removed from the residential sector in Belgorod and in the Ulitka microdistrict of the Belgorod district, people began to be returned to their houses and apartments, the governor of the Belgorod region Vyacheslav Gladkov reported in his Telegram channel.
Earlier, he informed that about 600 people from 323 houses within a radius of 500 meters are being evacuated due to the disposal of unexploded ordnance in Belgorod; two more such ammunition were found in the Ulitka microdistrict. According to the head of the region, 101 people are in a temporary accommodation center, the rest are staying with their relatives and friends. The authorities planned to complete the work to eliminate all the shells on Thursday.
“»Explosive items have been removed from the residential area. We are gradually beginning to return people to their houses and apartments,» Gladkov wrote.
According to information from the Russian Ministry of Defense, on January 2, the Armed Forces of Ukraine fired two missiles of the Tochka-U tactical missile system at Belgorod » and 24 Olkha MLRS missiles, all of them were shot down by Russian air defense systems. On the morning of January 3, the Russian Defense Ministry announced the destruction of six more Tochka-U missiles and six Vilkha missiles over the Belgorod region.
