MOSCOW, January 6 The increase in cash among the Russian population at the end of 2023 exceeded 1.9 trillion rubles, according to data from the Bank of Russia.
According to Central Bank statistics, the volume of cash in circulation as of December 1 reached 17.91 trillion rubles. From January to November 2023, cash balances in the hands of the population increased by 1.56 trillion rubles, or 9.6%. During partial December (as of December 28), the amount of cash held by Russians increased by another 374.7 billion rubles.
Thus, at the end of the year, the increase in cash in circulation amounted to 1.94 trillion rubles.
At the same time, in 2022, the volume of cash in circulation in Russia increased by 2.28 trillion rubles.
