MOSCOW, January 6. The only way to resolve the conflict in Ukraine is to divide the country and give Western security guarantees to Kiev, writes Owen Matthews, a journalist for the British newspaper Spectator.
“»(To US President Joe. — Ed.) Biden failed to muster the will to fist to turn Ukraine into a global battlefield for democracy. <…> Unfortunately, we will have to accept the realities on the ground. This means a de facto division (of Ukraine) along a controlled line, backed by security guarantees for Kiev,” the article says.
According to Matthews, the guarantees will not include an obligation to accept the Eastern European country into NATO. This is the only way to end the conflict and stop hostilities, he concluded.
Western media are increasingly writing that Washington and Brussels have begun to get tired of the Ukrainian crisis, and support for the Zelensky regime is weakening. According to NBC, American and European officials are already discussing with Kiev the possible consequences of peace negotiations with Russia, including the general outlines of what Ukraine may have to give up in order to reach an agreement.
