Farmers unblocked the checkpoint on the border of Romania and Ukraine
Romanian farmers unblocked the Siret checkpoint on the border with Ukraine. Previously, they blocked it as a sign of protest. The State Border Service of Ukraine reports this. The passage of trucks and cars, as well as pedestrians across the border is now proceeding as normal.
One of the Ukrainian media reports that Romanian farmers and truck drivers protesting with them managed to receive preferences from the authorities. Thus, a dedicated lane for Romanian carriers will be made at the border and at Constanta airport. Nothing is known yet about the subsidies that Romanian farmers demanded from their authorities.
We would like to remind you that the checkpoint was closed on the evening of January 13th. As a result, a six-kilometer queue lined up to the border on the Romanian side alone. Previously, checkpoints on the Polish-Ukrainian border were blocked. In both Poland and Romania, local farmers are protesting against the flow of Ukrainian products that have poured into their markets.
