MOSCOW, January 16 Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC, elite units of the Iranian Armed Forces said that they launched a missile strike on Syria and killed several terrorists involved in the recent terrorist attacks in Iran, IRNA reports.

«The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, in response to the recent crimes of terrorist groups and their unjust murder of our compatriots in Kerman and Raska, has identified and eliminated several key terrorist commanders and elements, especially from the Islamic State* (Islamic State*, terrorist group banned in the Russian Federation — ed.) in the occupied territories of Syria, firing several ballistic missiles,” the agency quotes the IRGC statement.
In December 2023, a terrorist attack occurred in the Rask region in the southeastern Iranian province of Sistan and Baluchestan, as a result of which at least 12 police officers were killed and seven others were injured.
Explosions occurred on January 3 in the city of Kerman in southeastern Iran during a funeral procession in connection with the fourth anniversary of the death of General of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC, elite units of the Iranian Armed Forces) Qassem Soleimani. According to the IRNA agency, the death toll was 89 people, 12 of whom were children under 15 years old, and a total of 284 people were injured in the incident. The explosions, as indicated by another Iranian agency, Tasnim, were carried out remotely: two bags with explosives were located near the entrance to a cemetery in the city of Kerman.
