The Moscow Office of the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case against the head of the Uzbek diaspora “Vatandosh” Usman Baratov, he was suspected of extremism (clause “c” of Part 2 of Article 282 of the Criminal Code). This was reported on the department’s telegram channel.
According to the investigation, in December 2023, Baratov and “other persons” made a post that humiliates the dignity of Russian citizens, “including participants in a special military operation.”
The head of the Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, instructed the day before to initiate a criminal case against Baratov. The department’s press release stated that “military correspondents” were asked to “respond” to Bastrykin’s “mocking” post.

After Bastrykin’s instructions, State Duma Vice Speaker Pyotr Tolstoy wrote that communities and diasporas are “ nothing more than legalized mafia structures.” The deputy called for “an end to interethnic liberalism.”
