A planned shutdown of the third power unit has begun at the Czech Dukovany NPP
At the Czech Dukovany nuclear power plant, a planned shutdown of the third power unit has begun, said station press secretary Jiri Bezdek. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
The shutdown of the power unit is reported to be related to plans to replace fuel and other technical and operational work. The power unit is planned to be launched in April.
The Dukovany NPP is located in the south-east of the Czech Republic, it is the oldest nuclear power plant in the country, it was built and launched in 1985-1987 with the assistance of the USSR. This is one of the two operating ASEs in the Czech Republic.
Earlier, the Czech authorities announced a tender for the construction of the next power unit, but excluded the Russian Rosatom and the Chinese China General Nuclear Power from among its participants, citing “security reasons.” This year the fuel supplier will also change — instead of the Russian company TVEL, fuel for the Dukovany NPP will be supplied by the American company Westinghouse.
