MOSCOW, January 20 The agro-industrial complex of the Russian Federation is 60% supplied with open-ground vegetable seeds before the spring sowing season, the purchase continues, but the emphasis is on domestic selection, the report says message from the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.
Two large vegetable-producing regions — the Astrakhan and Volgograd regions — are faced with the problem of a shortage of imported seeds of tomatoes, carrots and onions before the spring sowing season; difficulties could lead to a decrease in the yield of the largest producer of tomato paste, RBC wrote on Saturday.
«The provision of farmers with material and technical resources is under the special control of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture. As of January 15, the readiness of seed material for open-ground vegetables is 60%, which corresponds to the level of last year. The preparation and purchase of seed material continues,» they reported at the Ministry of Agriculture.

They recalled that special emphasis in the upcoming sowing campaign will be placed on using the achievements of domestic selection.
