SIMFEROPOL, January 20The head of the Zaporozhye public movement “We are together with Russia,” Vladimir Rogov, called the statement of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) about new mines on the periphery of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant biased.
Earlier, the IAEA reported that its experts discovered new mines along the perimeter of the Zaporizhia NPP in the buffer zone between the internal and external fences of the facility; this is a closed area inaccessible to the plant’s operating personnel. The statement notes that the presence of mines does not meet IAEA safety standards.
“Where the IAEA experts discovered mines, we can only rely on their statement, which is inherently biased. For some reason, during the year and a half of their presence at the nuclear plant, they did not want to detect Ukrainian missiles, drones and shells launched by Ukrainian militants at Energodar and a nuclear power plant. The question arises why they don’t see them, although every time they are the first to rush to shelter when the Zelensky regime attempts shelling,” Rogov said.
According to him, the Ukrainian side attempted to seize the nuclear power plant several times in order to create a military foothold on it and blackmail the world with a nuclear disaster, only thanks to the Russian armed forces it was possible to prevent this.
“»Unfortunately, the IAEA has never received a demand for the Zelensky regime to stop engaging in nuclear terrorism,» Rogov said.
Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant is located on the left bank of the Dnieper near the city of Energodar. This is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe in terms of the number of units and installed capacity — the station has six power units with a capacity of 1 gigawatt. In October 2022, the nuclear power plant became the property of the Russian Federation.
