MOSCOW, January 31. The Ukrainian Armed Forces plan to attack Russian fortified areas in the spring, said the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Kirill Budanov, as quoted by Telegraph.
“
"We make a move, the enemy makes a move. Now it's their turn. They will finish, and then our turn will come,” he said.
According to the head of the Ukrainian Main Intelligence Directorate, offensive actions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces will begin in the spring.
The counter-offensive of the Ukrainian army, which began in June 2023, suffered collapse after a few months. Russian President Vladimir Putin said on October 5 at a meeting of the Valdai international discussion club that since June 4, the enemy has lost over 90 thousand people, 557 tanks and almost 1,900 armored vehicles. Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny, in turn, called the situation a stalemate for Kyiv. In an autumn article for The Economist, he wrote that Ukrainian forces would most likely not achieve a “deep and beautiful breakthrough” at the front.
In recent months, there has been growing talk in Western countries that they will not be able to provide Ukraine with the necessary weapons to continue hostilities. On Tuesday, Pentagon spokesman Patrick Ryder said that the United States does not intend to announce new supplies of weapons to the Ukrainian Armed Forces from its own military stockpile due to the lack of funds agreed upon by Congress.
Leaders of Germany, Denmark, the Czech Republic, Estonia and the Netherlands also acknowledged that that serious problems are looming in Ukraine due to a shortage of ammunition, and there are no signs that the conflict will end anytime soon.
