MOSCOW, February 2Armchairs with high headrests, a special lounge area or a children's playroom can be placed on the second floor of a train with a panoramic roof, designed by Russian designers, said Alexey Sharshakov, chief designer of the domestic center for industrial design and innovation «2050.LAB».
«2050.LAB» developed the design of new passenger cars, including three reserved seat options, one of which with capsule seats, cars for the Moscow and St. Petersburg metro, the interior of the Ivolga 3.0 trains, etc. Another work of the center was the concept a two-story electric train with a panoramic roof AirSCP (from the word Airscape, panoramic view). It was made several years ago.
“The panoramic platform allows you to look at the road through the eyes of the driver. Scenarios for using the panoramic platform are different. You can install chairs with high headrests, which give a feeling of privacy to think about important things and relax. Or you can place a special lounge area or even a children’s playroom there,” — Sharshakov described options that can be implemented based on this concept.
He explained that the interior for AirSCP was not separately developed in detail. “We wrote out usage scenarios. We formulated it this way: a trip on such a train can bring a new emotional experience,” said the chief designer.
A tourist carriage with a glass roof was mentioned by Russian Railways General Director Oleg Belozerov in the summer of 2023.
The general director of the Russian Transmashholding (TMH), Kirill Lipa, spoke about the readiness to produce double-decker tourist trains with panoramic roofs and windows if there is demand for them back in 2020.
The launch of production of such cars in Russia has not yet been reported.
