President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky announced that Colonel General Alexander Syrskoy, who previously commanded the ground forces, has been appointed to the post of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“Today a new management team is taking over the leadership of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. I want our soldiers in Rabotino or Avdievka, and in the General Staff, to have the only vision of the war,” Zelensky’s telegram channel reports. He also added that Syrsky has successful experience not only in defense, but also in offense.

Earlier, the President of Ukraine said that he had a meeting with the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny and thanked him for his work, offering to “continue to be on the team.” After this, Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov reported on Facebook that the country’s authorities had made “a decision on the need to change the leadership of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.” He also thanked Zaluzhny for his work, “achievements and victories.”
Later, Zelensky’s decrees appeared on the website of the official representative office of the President of Ukraine on the dismissal of Zaluzhny from the post of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the appointment of Alexander Syrsky in his place.
p>Since the end of January, the resignation of Zaluzhny from the post of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has been discussed in the Ukrainian media and telegram channels. On February 5, in an interview with the Italian TV channel Rai News 24, Zelensky said that he was considering such a possibility, since the country’s leadership “needs a reboot.”
