In Kharkov, a gas station and private houses caught fire due to a drone attack; seven people died, including a family with three children

The Nemyshlyansky district on the southeastern outskirts of Kharkov was attacked by Russian drones at night, Mayor Igor Terekhov said. As a result, a gas station exploded, spilling fuel and setting houses around it on fire. By morning, seven people were known to have died, the Emergency Situations Service (DSNS) reported.

This included a married couple with three children, the eldest of whom was seven years old. Governor Oleg Sinegubov described the circumstances: “The man’s body was found in the hallway of the house, and the mother and children tried to escape in the bathroom. The search for the body of the youngest boy continues. In another house, a 66-year-old man and his 65-year-old wife died.”

“Everything exploded and started leaking. Burning river. Diesel fuel, I'm all diesel. It set houses on fire. They helped, extinguished it with their hands, with snow, as best they could,” fire witness Andrey Kruglo told Suspilna Kharkov.

The Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported that they shot down 23 out of 31 kamikaze drones. The Odessa region was also under attack. Regional authorities reported damage to port infrastructure and injuries to several port employees.
