CAIRO, Feb. 11 Actions of the United States, which continues to supply weapons to Israel , threaten to expand the scale of the conflict in the Middle East, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said at a meeting in Damascus with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian.
Abdollahian arrived in Damascus on Sunday for talks with a number of Syrian officials.
«»During a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian, President Bashar al-Assad said that US behavior regarding the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip threatens to expand the scope of the conflict due to the continued supply of deadly weapons to the Zionist entity (Israel — ed. ) and Washington's attacks on various areas in the Middle East,» Assad's office said in a statement.
Assad stressed that the West and Israel are at a dead end. According to him, the Israeli escalation against Palestine, Syria and Lebanon is nothing more than an attempt to break the deadlock.
The Syrian President added that international organizations, primarily the UN Security Council, are not able to stop Israeli attacks on Gaza.
