SARATOV, February 19 Three people were taken to intensive care with burns after a fire at a plant in Balakovo, the third largest city in the Saratov region, said Yuri Yurin, head of the life safety department of the regional government.
“Three people received thermal burns and are in intensive care,” the agency’s interlocutor said, noting that there is no information that an explosion occurred at the enterprise.
Emergency services clarified that three workers were injured in a fire at a metallurgical plant in Balakovo.
The regional prosecutor's office reported on the Telegram channel that it had begun an investigation into an industrial accident where «workers were injured in a fire.»
«According to preliminary data, today, February 19, 2024, during work at one of the enterprises in Balakovo, a fire occurred, as a result of which workers were injured. «The victims were hospitalized in a medical facility. The city prosecutor's office is investigating the causes and circumstances of the incident and will assess compliance with labor protection legislation. If there are grounds, response measures will be taken,» the statement says.
The press service of the regional head office of the Ministry of Emergency Situations clarified to journalists that there were no reports of an incident at the plant in Balakovo. “Fire and rescue units were not involved,” the headquarters added.
