The German brand's five-door will hit the European market this coming summer. Production will take place at the Emden plant, where the ID.7 liftback is already produced. The company will announce the prices of the new product later.
Volkswagen introduced the ID.7 liftback in April last year. And the first pictures of the camouflaged station wagon prototype were published in the fall of 2023. The new five-door is based on the ID concept. Space Vizzion, which was shown back in 2019. Now the German manufacturer has completely declassified the next serial product of the “green” family — the Volkswagen ID.7 Tourer.

It should be noted that the ID.7 Tourer in the brand’s model line will be located next to the Volkswagen Passat Variant (the model is now presented exclusively as a station wagon), which has options with gasoline, diesel engines and hybrid units, while the new “barn” is offered only with a fully equipped electrical engineering.
Visually, the front of the Volkswagen ID.7 Tourer is the same as that of the liftback. The stern differs due to the shape of the roof and a less sloping tailgate, while the lights and rear bumper are designed in the same way as the “just” ID.7. Already in the base model was equipped with 19-inch wheels. The aerodynamic drag coefficient Cx for the ID.7 Tourer is 0.24 (for the “green” liftback it is 0.23); for comparison, the same figure for the current Passat Variant is 0.25.
The trunk volume of the five-seater Volkswagen ID.7 Tourer station wagon is 545 liters. If you set the adjustable second-row backrests to their most upright position, the figure increases to 605 liters; if you fold the rear bench, the total volume of cargo space increases to 1714 liters. For comparison, the current Passat Variant has a significantly larger trunk volume: it varies from 690 to 1920 liters.
The interior of the station wagon is the same as that of the liftback, which means that the role of the instrument panel is played by a head-up display with augmented reality, in the center of the front panel there is a 15-inch touchscreen of the infotainment system with the Volkswagen IDA voice assistant, and the multifunction steering wheel is equipped with touch buttons. For an additional fee, a panoramic roof with “smart glass” is available, which can be made opaque without a curtain.

The “filling” of the ID.7 Tourer is the same as that of the liftback presented last year: we are talking about a single 286-horsepower electric motor installed on the rear axle, its maximum torque is 545 Nm. The model is offered with a choice of a pair of traction batteries – with a capacity of 77 or 86 kWh. The maximum range on one charge according to the passport is 685 km (when calculated using the WLTP cycle). Later, the line will be replenished with all-wheel drive modifications with dual-engine power plants.
